Home décor styles come and go, but one thing stays the same – we’ll always have the latest inspirations here! Let’s take a look at 2023’s hottest home trends.
Sustainable Style
Everything old is new again. With concerns about the environment in the headlines every day, consumers are looking for ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle in their homes, like avoiding harmful chemicals in paints, using natural light, and buying products made with recycled goods (think vases, flower pots, and picture frames). Family heirloom pieces are taking center stage, and thrift stores are a great place to find furniture to use as-is or refinish in your own style.
Breathe in Some Nature
Expect to see colors inspired by nature, like gentle greens and blues, that are calming and pleasing to the eye. Even the Pantone Color of the Year “Viva Magenta,” while it packs a pink punch, is described as “a shade rooted in nature, descending from the red family,” that resembles ripe berries and fuchsia flowers. Homeowners are also moving the outside in with touches like baskets and tables of natural wood. And while you’re at it, plants are a great way to add warmth to your home décor. Snake plants and bromeliads are some low-maintenance examples.
Go Goth
On the other hand, some homeowners prefer the darker side. Gothic décor is making a comeback – but that doesn’t mean skulls and feathers. Rather, it’s items that set a tone of opulence and history—The Addams Family meets HGTV. Think deep, moody rooms all in the same color, like dark purple, and touches of black on lampshades, furnishings, and fabrics. Still want a little touch of Transylvania? Enjoy your favorite horror novel in your own reading nook.
Return to the Roaring 20s
Another old favorite, art deco, is also hip again. This colorful style exploded right after World War I and affected all areas of design like interiors, fashion, and even cars. Both elegant and functional, art deco interiors manifest themselves in large chairs, armoires, and materials like stainless steel, mirror, chrome, glass, and lacquer. You’ll also see bold choices in shapes and patterns like trapezoidal, zigzag, and sunbursts. Popular colors include deep yellows, reds, greens, blues, and pinks.
Clean Organization
As more people began working at home during the pandemic, and perhaps also watching the many new TV home organization shows, homeowners needed new ways to keep their spaces tidy. Instead of open shelving and glass doors, today’s homeowners are choosing to close up their personal items in bins of opaque, natural materials (remember sustainability?) like wicker and bamboo. And with supply chain issues still impacting the country, more people are stocking up on their favorite items. This means additional utility cabinets and shelves.
