Atlantic Bay works every day to make homeownership possible for every borrower in every community. But for some, obstacles like language barriers can make the mortgage process intimidating. A bilingual family member can translate, but details can get lost, documents can be misunderstood, and scheduling conflicts mean lost time when multiple parties play “go-between” to communicate with one another.

That’s why Atlantic Bay offers our Spanish-speaking borrowers “La Bahía” (“The Bay”) to provide them the homeownership tools, resources, and support they need to build their lives, enjoy time with their families, and take real ownership in their communities.

How Does La Bahía Work?  

La Bahía mortgages work just like any other Atlantic Bay mortgage, but bilingual!  Spanish speakers work directly with a bilingual, approved La Bahía Mortgage Banker who’ll help them feel “heard” throughout their homebuying journey and inspire confidence with resources including:  

  • Education about homeownership and its many applications in a language you’re more comfortable with.  

  • Access to loan documents translated into Spanish.  

  • Ongoing bilingual support even after the loan closes. 

We’re here to help your real estate agent, too. Whether or not they speak Spanish, we can assist them in communicating all your options and answering your questions.  

Hispanic Homeownership Is Growing    

As Latino homeownership grows, so will Atlantic Bay’s programs like La Bahía. In 2021, the U.S. Hispanic homeownership rate increased to 48.4%, up from 47.5% in 2019, according to the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP). Experts predict this expansion to continue, and Atlantic Bay wants to make the mortgage process just as smooth and stress-free for these Spanish speakers as we do for all borrowers.
