Determined to find a new job? Are you hunched over your desk, bored out of your mind, and itching for a change? Well, the new year is upon us, and it’s time to get started on your next steps to make it happen. We’ve complied a few resources to help you start the new year at a new desk!

1. Determine Your Goals

First things first – you want to clarify what your goals are. Are you seeking a company with an awesome company culture or better benefits compensation? Once you solidify your goals create a goal setting sheet, and keep it somewhere to motivate you through your job search.

2. Network

Networking is key in your job search. Make sure you’re consistently expanding your circle of connections. The larger your connection base, the greater the chance you will have in getting connected to your perfect job. Venture out to events and mingle with a few potential candidates. Networking events such as Meetups are great places to start. If you’re lucky, you may be able to find a guest list. From the guest list, create a networking plan of the people you are interested in connecting with. Research more about that person and make a list of a few questions you will want to ask them.

3. Be Proactive

Talent Liaisons are always looking for the next great hire. Make their search easier by being proactive in the recruiting process. Instead of sending just your resume like every regular candidate, go a step further and create a T-Letter action plan. Find a way to directly identify your skill set and how it relates to the position.

The New Year is a great time to get a jump on the competition. Get out there and get started.

Make this year’s resolution a reality!
